How to Apply

How we support the displaced researchers?

June 23, 2025

Researchers in all career levels who are in acute danger of displacement by war or were recently displaced by war or natural disasters, regardless of nationality, have limited access to resources and institutional support.

The core coordination of MAXMINDS 2.0 is led by dedicated volunteer researchers and alumni of MPG and is supported by several departments and research groups within MPG.

MA and doctoral students and postdoc researchers:

MAXMINDS 2.0 offers a fast-track mentoring program to support MA and doctoral students, as well as postdoctoral researchers (in general, “mentees”). The content of the support could be more specific to applying for positions, fellowships, or guest programs in MPG, as well as support based on the expertise and research interests of the mentor and the mentee. The mentor and the mentee will decide the duration of the mentoring, which will be at least three months and could be extended to six 6 months with the agreement of both the mentor and the mentee.

Scholars and researchers above postdoc level:

MAXMINDS 2.0 also serves as a platform for providing information on fellowships for mid-career and senior researchers (i.e., those above the postdoc level).

MAXMINDS 2.0 does not prescribe any particular mechanism for funding, leaving details to each individual MPI group, department, or institute. This ensures that each institute can support the program’s core objectives in its own way. In case a department or research group provides specific support within the framework of this program

Application Period:

The next application period will take place from August 15 to September 15, 2025. Further details on how to apply will be shared closer to the date.
